Ben Christensen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ben Christensen (born November 16, 1986) is a footballer who was recently released by Sunderland. He was part of the 2004/05 preseason tour to North America, during which he appeared in all four games played.

He was born in Whitley Bay but as a boy, Christensen played for Wallsend Boys Club, the same team which produced Newcastle United's record breaking goal scorer Alan Shearer.

Christensen has recently been at the centre of a high profile move to local North East side Blyth Spartans, where he plays as a versatile "no nonsense" defender.

Physically whilst Ben has lost the vast majority of his pace, he remains a heavy-set figure so should have no problems "roughing it" in the lower leagues.

Whilst Football remains Ben's primary focus, he is also an avid supporter of 'Ginger Nation', a group that prides itself on trying to break down the prejudice's held by many against ginger haired people such as Ben. He is espeacially keen on protecting kids in the game from this kind of 'bullying', and hopes that having him as a role model may help show those trying to forge a way in the game that its cool to be different.
