This category for people who have been born in the territory of Belarus. Belarus gained independence only in 20th century; many Belarusians were either Polonized of Russified, and their ethnic origins are often disputed. Many of them rightfully consider them Poles, but in Belarus they are considered part of Belarusian history as well by many.
