[edit] History
"A committee of students from all three secondary student councils met with Dr. Boilesen and Mrs. Bonness and developed a plan to name the new high school. A list of 27 names was presented to students, and those receiving the highest vote were: Bellevue East, Bellevue West, Cooley, and Cornhusker. Another 26 names were suggested by students as mascot. The top five were: Warhawks, Apaches, Commanches, Trojans, and Panthers. In the spring of 1976 the school board accepted the names for the two high schools, but rejected the name for the West mascot. In the fall, Dr. Boilesen, and the board selected Thunderbirds, which had received the second highest tally of student votes. East High retained its mascot and school colors, but changed its name from Bellevue High to Bellevue East High." -Quote from Bellevue East's webpage
[edit] Marching band
Both the Bellevue East and Bellevue West High School marching bands compete in many competitions every year and are considered the two best bands in the state of Nebraska. [edit] Bellevue East Fight Song
The lyrics of the school's fight song are:
The purple and the white,
Stand for Bellevue East.
Colors of our school and emblem,
Of our faith in you -- GO BELLEVUE!
We'll cheer for you, Bellevue
Forever and a day.
For in our hearts we're yours,
So, Hail to you, We'll cheer for you, Bellevue!
Spoken:
GO! EAST! CHIEFTAINS LET'S WIN!
LET'S FIGHT! EAST! CHIEFTAINS LET'S WIN!
RAH RAH RAH RAH! SIS BOOM BAH!
Repeat song.
