The Bellevue Blackhawks is an American Basketball Association (ABA) team based in Bellevue, Washington USA. The team began play in the fall of 2004. They finished in 5th place in the Red Division and made it to the finals of the league, losing to the Arkansas RimRockers 118-103. Their semi-final matchup against the Utah Snowbears was canceled because Utah dropped out of the league.
The Blackhawks' owner, Michael Tuckman was named the 2005 ABA executive of the year. The team returned to the ABA for the 05-06 season, but came under fire as the team regularly cancelled home games, and some fans came under attack from Tuckman. The Blackhawks finished 1-10 and did not make the playoffs. The team has not played in 06-07 season.
The Bellevue Blackhawks professional basketball team began play in the American Basketball Association (ABA) in November of 2004. Former President and General Manager of KONG-TV in Seattle, Michael Tuckman, is the team's president and owner. Tuckman led the Blackhawks to the ABA Western Conference Championship in its maiden season, but the team was defeated for the ABA Championship by the Arkansas Rimrockers in front of 15,000 fans at Alltel Arena in Little, Rock, Arkansas on March 26th, 2005, the largest crowd ever to attend an ABA game. For his efforts, Tuckman was named 2004-05 ABA Executive of the Year.
Tuckman expanded his ABA holdings by acquiring the Tacoma Navigators, Olympia Titans and Vancouver Dragons. Of these, none are currently competing, though reports suggest the Dragons may join the CBA for 2007-08 seson.
