Bellevue, Oregon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bellevue is an unincorporated, rural community in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. It is named for the French words for "beautiful view". Oregon Geographic Names notes that it is not known who named the community, but it was settled in about 1860, and a previous post office in the area was named "Muddy". Bellevue post office operated from 1869 to 1904.
[edit] Geography
Bellevue is located on Oregon State Route 18, 8 miles south of McMinnville and 4 miles north of Sheridan. Bellevue is also the western terminus of the Bellevue-Hopewell Highway. The view from Route 18 shows a community nearly indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland. The community appears to consist of a few businesses (the Lawrence Gallery, and the Oregon Wine Tasting Room and Bellevue Market), a green sign with the word "Bellevue" on it, and some scattered residences.
