Belleisle, New Brunswick
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Belleisle is a geographic area in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The area is an unofficial region, with a very rich agricultural past and present. The area is also a summer community for many cottage-goers. The region is about half located in Kings County and half in Queens County. The region is located on Belleisle Bay, an extension of the Saint John River. The area is very rural and sparsely populated, dotted with countless farms of all sorts (most, however, produce dairy products or food). The community of Belleisle Creek is home to Belleisle Foods. - There are three ferries operating in Belleisle. First, the Evandale Ferry leaves Kars and lands at Evandale on the west bank of the Saint John River. It is part of Route 124. Next, on Route 705, is the Hampstead Ferry which leaves Wickham and lands at Hampstead, just north of Evandale. Thirdly, the Belleisle Bay Ferry leaves from Springfield and lands at Long Point. This is the only ferry of the three which has both wharves in the Belleisle Region. The alternative to taking this ferry is a quick drive up Route 850 and crossing a bridge on Route 124 into Springfield. All three ferries are river cable ferries, which are common in Southwest New Brunswick and often make up part of the highway system.

Belleisle Elementary School is where children go to attend Kindergarten to grade 5. Students attend Belleisle Regional High School for grade 6-12. The schools are located on opposite sides of the road (Route 124) in Springfield. The schools belong to School District 6.
