Belgioioso

Belgioioso or Belgiojoso is a town in the Province of Pavia, Lombardy, in northern Italy. It is 12 km east of the city of Pavia, between the Olona River and the Po River, and has become one of the southern suburbs of Milan. The population is 5,362.

Belgioioso is particularly noted for its medieval castle, the seat of the Belgiojoso family. Francis I of France was held there after the Battle of Pavia.
