Belford railway station is a small station located on CityRail's Hunter Valley Line serving the town of Belford, New South Wales in Australia.
The station consists of 2 platforms approximately 3 metres long. Passengers must use the last carriage at this small station. Despite its size, the station is modern with emergency help points on platforms modern station signage, enhanced lighting and security cameras. Yellow safety lines are painted on both platforms, a full size commuter bench is provided on platform 2 (services to Scone) and a crossing is provided for safe crossing of the line. The track is standard gauge and is high quality with excellent steel rails and concrete sleepers.
The station is easily accessible along the New England Highway (which links Newcastle and Brisbane), and has a bus stop close by so that connections with buses are available. No ticket selling facilities are available at this station so passengers must purchase a ticket at their destination or interchange station if time permits. Belford is one of the most remote stations on CityRail's network and is 222,678 metres from the buffers of platform 1 at Central Station.
From 4 September, 2005 onwards, Belford station will be permanently closed for safety reasons.
Along with Allandale Station in the Hunter Valley, Belford is currently having its Emergency Help Points, lights and CCTV cameras removed. Belford has now been removed from the Station facilities section of the CityRail website and along with Allandale will not appear on any new network Maps, although they are still shown on many network maps which still exist on trains and Stations.
