Bela Szokefalvi-Nagy (1913-1998) was a Hungarian mathematician and winner of the Lomonosov Medal. He was a collaborator wtih Alfred Haar and Frigyes Riesz, founders of the Szegedian school of mathematics. He contributed to the theory of Fourier series and approximation. However, his main achievement has been made in functional analysis, especially, in the theory of Hilbert space operators. A medal is given in his honor.
