Bela Rabelbauer

Bela Rabelbauer was an Austrian businessman. In the 1970s he was attaché of Costa Rica with the European Union. He was one of the highest tax payers of Vorarlberg. Due to tax evasion he became subject to an international arrest warrant by German authorities. In 1980 he declared prepared for a donation of several million Austrian Shillings to the Austrian People's Party. Rabelbauer is suspected of having bribed a prosecutor successfully. In 1988, Rabelbauer was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. In 1991 the sentence became effective, which is why he fled to Thailand the same year. In 1993 he was arrested in Thailand.
