Beginnings (book)

Beginnings is a book that features three fantasy/fiction stories with different subjects and themes:
- The Tale of Princess Keiko, a story set in medieval Japan, featuring Princess Keiko, the Princess of Kyoto Castle.
- The Tale of Prince Roy, a story set in the fictional South Kingdom, featuring Prince Roy, the younger Prince of South Castle.
- The Tale of Will Kaine, a story set in the futuristic world of the Andromeda Galaxy, featuring Will Kaine, a space pirate who stole a Space Navy flagship and renamed it the Tech-Eagle.

- Fighters of Coliseum Isle: the Disciples of Anubis, Landon of London, and The Maebashi Murderer
- Gizzard Dragon: a fearsome dragon that few have killed. It has two mouths, bat-like wings, claws, a tail bristling with spikes, and breathes fire from its secondary mouth.
- Slavers: a large band of foreign slavers
- The Necromancer: an evil sorcerer that is never seen
- Alastor the Wizard: a sinister sorcerer who tries to take over South Kingdom
- Rob the Rebellious: Roy's brother, who started a rebellion after Roy became King

- Mayor: Roy and his companions meet with the mayor of Deepwood, who askes them to find and defeat the slavers

- South Kingdom: the southernmost of four kingdoms, covered by a giant plain.
- Seaside: South Kingdom's most prosperous city, a port-town with a giant spire in the center.
- Coliseum Isle: a small island where an illegal coliseum was built.
- Southern Woods: the woods in the southern region of South Kingdom.
- Chasm and Kassim: the chasm is a huge gorge where gizzard dragons live; Kassim is a mining town near there, touching both the chasm and the plain.
- Deepwood: a logging town in the Southern Woods.
- The Valley of the Necromancer: once known as The Valley of the Holy Ones, the Necromancer took over decades ago when he died. Anyone who passes through his domain joins an undead army.
- South Plain: a massive plain that covers most of South Kingdom.
- South Castle: South Kingdom's capitol. The King before Roy was his father, King Ron.
- Items of Note
- Shrink Mushroom: a fictional fungus that, when eaten, makes the consumer shrink. Roy ate one, not knowing its properties, and shrank to the size of a mouse.
- Growth Mushroom: a fictional fungus that, when eaten, makes the consumer grow. It is commonly used to counter the effects of a shrink mushroom. It is unknown how big someone will grow when eating just one or two, because Roy ate three before growth took place, making him eighty feet tall.
- Morph Staff: a magical weapon that can transform into any weapon that the wielder knows of, such as a bow, sword, hammer, or shield. This is Elizabeth's weapon.
- Blaze Blade: a powerful blade of unknown make. It's guard is shaped like flames, the guard and hilt are fiery red, a sapphire is embedded in the pommel, and it can manipulate fire. This is Rob's weapon.
- Storm Sword: a powerful blade of unknown make. It's guard is shaped like a lightning bolt, the guard and hilt are yellow, a ruby is embedded in the pommel, and it manipulates lightning and electricity. This is Roy's weapon.
