[edit] Welcome, Bec-Thorn-Berry!
I'm glad you've decided to join us - this is a great project! We do have a lot of users, and are currently working on 1,535,200 articles, so things can be a little intimidating... but don't worry! We love to help out, and we'll try our best to make your stay here as comfortable as possible.
Here are a few links I found useful when I first arrived here:-

- Policies, guidelines, and rules
- How to create a page, edit a page and write a great article
- A handy tutorial, and a picture tutorial
- Writing well

- Play nicely with others
- Contribute, Contribute, Contribute!
- Tell us about yourself
- Be inspired by our finest!
You should sign your name on talk pages, discussions and votes by typing ~~~~; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date. Also, if you don't want to jump right into editing articles right now, why not check out the sandbox? Feel free to make test edits there.
I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian - I definitely do. Although we all make mistakes, please keep in mind what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or problems, leave me a message on my talk page, and I'll try my best to help. Otherwise, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
We hope you stick around, and make sure you enjoy yourself! Cheers, riana_dzasta 11:51, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your participation in several AfDs
Welcome, Bec-Thorn-Berry! I noticed that you joined the discussion at several articles for deletion today. Participation in the community is encouraged, of course, but your status as a brand new user means that your opinions might not be counted. Please understand that this is a common practice on Wikipedia, and it is necessary to prevent deliberate misuse of our discussion pages. Our discussion processes value consensus over raw numbers and reasoned debate over simple voting. However, please do make further contributions to Wikipedia and express your opinion on policy matters. Feel free to contact me if you have any queries about this. Thanks, riana_dzasta 11:51, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I want to second what Riana said. contributions like this probably will not be given much weight. AfD is not a vote, it is a gathering of opinions, so your opinion will be given more weight if you actually describe why you think an article should be deleted or kept, preferably basing your reasoning on relevant policies and guidelines. A few links that should prove helpful in understanding how deletions debates work:
- ...and a few policy/guideline links that may be helpful:
Hope that helps.--Isotope23 20:01, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
