[edit] Numbering references

In my view Wiki has a problem numbering references.

  • you cannot use reference twice: the count continues regardless
  • including a url link will mess up numbering
  • get the right order for the references is a nuisance

Solution: not have numbers at all in reference list. V8rik 22:20, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

You're right. Wikipedia has a rather poor mechanism for numbering references. However, without numbers it's not clear which citation goes with which reference. ~K 01:26, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
V8rik, Go to Wikipedia:Footnotes. They added a bunch of explaination since I went there last. It seems much more helpful. ~K 03:32, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
