Beaujeu is a small town in the French département of Rhône, in the east-central Rhône-Alpes région of the country.
It is the name of Beaujeu which gives the local area, famous for its red wine, its name, Beaujolais.

Beaujeu was the historical capital of the Beaujolais, a former province of France.
Beaujolais was a semi-autonomous fiefdom of the Lords of Beaujeu; it was annexed by the French crown in 1531.
