Bayanzurkh is one of nine districts that make up the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar; the largest district in the capital, it lies in the southeast of the city. The district was established in 1965. As of 2006, it had an approximate population of 184,690 in 44,138 households. A total of 23 state kindergartens and 19 secondary schools are located in the district area.
