Baum Circle

John E. Berninger (1897-1981) was an American landscape painter and Pennsylvania impressionist who studied with Baum and was an instructor at the Kline-Baum Art School from 1926-1934.  Self-portrait.

The Baum Circle refers to the artists either taught by, associated with, or directly influenced by Pennsylvania impressionist painter Walter Emerson Baum. In October 2006, the David E. Rodale Gallery at the Baum School of Art held an exhibition celebrating the work of this group.
