Talk:Battlestar Galactica (ship)

[edit] Crew Size

I removed the reference to an "exceptionally" large crew because it does not fit with what has been seen in the series. The series has given the ship a crew compliment of about 2500, and although that seems large, it is actually quite small given the 1200+m (4000+ft) length of the ship. By comparison, a Nimitz class aircraft carries is a bit over 300m (1000ft) long, a fiftieth of the overall size, and has a crew compliment of nearly 6000.

I think this page should be split between the two different series. They exist in separate universes. One series should not be attached to the other.

The original text stated: The Battlestar Galactica was built 500 yahren before the close of the Thousand Yahren War (and the start of the TV series).

Given that a yahren is a year, it seems suspicious. I also think that from the text below:

At the time of the Cylon Attack, Galactica was 50 years old and she was undergoing formal decommissioning from the Colonial fleet following her retirement as an operational vessel.

As such, I edited the first sentence to read that the Galactica was built 50 years before the close.

Remember that they are two different series. The original numbers were correct - the 1978 Galactica was 500 yahren old, the new one is 50 years old. Denorios 22:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
