Battrick Cup

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Battrick Cup has been going since season 1 in Battrick. Winning the cup brings a permanent place for your team in Battrick cup history. The format is similar to Hattrick's cup system, in more detail it is presented below. A cup match is also part of a different competition that is much larger than the league competition. The top 75-80% of the country's teams play in the cup for the title. The format of the cup competition is a knockout, where the fixtures are set with the best team in the country (1st in division I) plays the worst team that made it into the cups fixtures and 2nd best in the country (2nd in division I) plays the 2nd worst team that made it into the cup fixtures etc. The teams will continue to play off with number of teams left in the cup halving every week, until you reach the stage where only one team has gone through the cup undefeated, that team is declared the cup winner and awarded £250 000 and the runner up will also receive £100 000.

[edit] World Cup

The Battrick World Cup and Battrick U19 World Cup is held at the end of a season (16 weeks in a season) between weeks 14-16 every second season. This was introduced one season after national and U19 teams had been given to each country. All current countries in Battrick participate. The structure of the World Cup has multiple stages, starting off with seeding the teams so the fixtures can be made for the first competitive stage called 'Super 8's'. Super 8's allows only four teams to qualify to the next round based on a points system where a win is 4 points and a tie is 2 points, this points system includes Net run rate to separate teams on equal points. The four top teams play each other in a knockout semi-final where the team that came 1st in the last round plays the team that came 4th, just as the team that came 2nd in the last round plays the team that came 3rd. The winners from these two games play in a grand final to decided who will win the World Cup. There is also a 3rd place playoff between the teams that lost in the semi-finals.

[edit] Notes

  1. ^ Due to the build up of newly implemented First Class matches U19 World Cup II was reduced to a format of two groups of four and the top two out of three matches would proceed to the semi finals. The groups were selected by the countries ranking that they had received from results produced by tour matches in the weeks before the Cup. These groups were Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan and England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies.
