The Battle of Salsu was the huge battle that occurred in the year 612, during second Goguryeo-Sui War, between Korean kingdom Goguryeo and the Chinese Sui Dynasty. Goguryeo cavalry forces, although outnumbered, overwhelmed the Chinese troops in combat and eventually emerged victorious. The battle is one of the most lethal battles in world history, and it is the most lethal battle in the history before the World Wars, with more than 300,000 casualties. With the victory over Sui dynasty in Salsu, Goguryeo eventually became victor of the war itself, while Sui Dynasty started to crumble from within and finally brought down from internal strife.
