The Battle of Mygeeto was a fictional conflict that appeared in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith during the Clone Wars.
Toward the end of the war, Palpatine declared Mygeeto a member of the Triad of Evil, the three planets that would ensure the downfall of the Confederacy of Independent Systems if captured.
Being a major InterGalactic Banking Clan holding, plus a planet in the triad, Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and Commander Bacara led the Galactic Marines into thick combat in a major Mygeetoan city. During the final stages of the battle, the 501st Legion participated by Bacara's recommendation. This made the Jedi Master Mundi more wary of the developments in the near future.
During a concentrated Republic push to rout the Separatists, fighting spread across the cities of Mygeeto. Ki-Adi-Mundi led a force of Marines supported by UT-AT assault vehicles and other heavy walkers, pushing hard into the intensifying fray.
The battle intensified on a number of vast bridges, which stretched across a great chasm, linking several city districts. It was here that Ki-Adi-Mundi would fight his last battle.
Before defeating the CIS Army and killing Ki-Adi-Mundi, the clones disabled two large green shields and crossed a bridge guarded by two AATs to get to the large energy collector. This energy collector was the hidden real reason that Palpatine held for actually attacking Mygeeto. The clones disabled the shields, went into the core of the energy collector, destroyed the core, and took the special power crystals needed for Palpatine's new weapon (Death Star) as a power source for a new laser and returned across the war-battered power platform and delivered the crystals to Palpatine in a LAAT gunship. This mission is detailed in Star Wars Battlefront II on the Battle of Mygeeto.
[edit] Order 66
Darth Sidious enacted Order 66 just prior to the battle's end.
As Ki-Adi-Mundi brought the first wave of Marines across the chasm, his troops halted without any warning. The Jedi turned around and ordered his troops to continue moving, aware that crucial timing would be necessary to win the battle. Instead of heeding his commands, the troops, as well as Commander Bacara, raised their blaster rifles and took aim. Most Jedi would not have realized what was taking place, but Ki-Adi Mundi had improved reflexes due to his binary brain and was able to put up a staunch defense. After killing at least five marines, he finally succumbed to the clones, suffering a shot in the arm before being hit in the chest by Bacara.
[edit] Aftermath
The battle continued until Palpatine gave the orders to Darth Vader to shut down all of the Battle droids. It was then that the newly christened Galactic Empire, won the battle.
