The Battle of Havana was an inconclusive sea skirmish between the British Caribbean squadron and a Spanish squadron based near Havana. After a number of abortive attacks, the British succeeded in driving the Spaniards back to their harbour with the loss of one vessel and a second later scrapped. Both commanders, Charles Henry Knowles and Don Andres Reggio, were severely reprimanded by their respective governments for their conduct during the engagement. There was a minor land battle on Havana.
