Battle of Dyme

The Battle of Dyme or Dymae took part during the Spartan Allied War. It was in the 226 BC. The locating of Dyme is in north-eastern Elis. The Achean League forces under Aratus were herded south into Elis to attack the Elean's who were Spartan allies. The Achean's were travelling by night when Cleomenes III who was the king of Sparta ambushed them and routed them. What remained of the Achean army retreated back into Achaia. Aratus barely escaped with his life. This battle sealed Spartan dominance in the area for the next few years.
