Battle of Durbe (Lithuanian: Durbės mūšis) was fought in present day Latvia during Northern Crusades.

On July 13, 1260 the Samogitians led by Duke Treniota completely defeated the joint forces of the Prussian and Livonian Knights of the Cross in Curonian lands near Durbe lake. 150 knights were killed including Livonian Land Master Burchard von Hornhausen and Prussian Land Marshall Botel.

In the aftermath of the defeat, Duke Treniota is alleged to have convinced his uncle Mindaugas, King of Lithuania to relapse from Christianity[citation needed] and attack the Teutonic Order. Later Treniota usurped the Lithuanian throne and reverted the nation back to paganism.

Numerous rebellions against Teutonic Order across all Baltic lands followed, including the Great Prussian Insurrection, which lasted from 1260 to 1274. The very existence of Order was in danger.
