Battle Arena Toshinden 2 for the PlayStation is the sequel to Battle Arena Toshinden. As with it's prequel it is a weapons-based 3D fighting game.

Though the core gameplay remains unchanged the game adds a simple combo system: Light Attack, Hard Attack, Special move. Though several characters have a couple of unqiue combo's that break this rule. The 3D movement has also been altered to better balance it in battle.

A version of the game was also released in arcades by Capcom.

A special edition of Toshinden 2, known as Toshinden 2 Plus was also released for the PSX featuring enhanced graphics and balancing tweaks.

Quotes
These quotes were pulled from the Polish Wikipedia entry for Battle Arena Toshinden 2 here, and seem correct from a casual listener's point of view, but may still be incorrect. An attempt to render an english translation has been made, but should be viewed with skeptisism. They are provided because there seems to be no other source.
  • Ikashite wa kaesan zo! - This is the quote Duke uses when selected. Direct translation seems to be "Speaking of revival, it won't return." What this means exactly I'm not sure, but could mean "(I) won't permit (your/his/her) resurrection."
  • Mada mada - Duke's Taunt. A direct translation would be "Still" as in either "You are still not skilled enough." or possibly "I'm still not finished with you."
  • Touzen no kekka da. - One of Duke's victory lines. While the Polish site lists it as "Touzan", this does not appear to be a word. A direct translation would be "A natural outcome." or, as it seems implied "Of course this would happen."
  • Waga tomo ni kake...watashi ha maken! - Another of Duke's victory lines. It roughly seems to be "To our credit I won't lose.", but this translation is almost definitely not entirely accurate. It should, however, give some idea as to what he means.
  • Yoi shoubu deatta. - A third victory line. It seems to mean "That was a good fight."
  • Ha ha! Nasakenai zo! - This is a special victory line used when Duke wins by a wide margin. It seems to mean "Ha ha! Pathetic!".
  • Ellis
  • Gaia (Now unarmored)

[edit] Other versions of Battle Arena Toshinden 2

Like Battle Arena Toshinden, Toshinden 2 was also ported to the Sega Saturn and PC.

[edit] Toshinden URA (Sega Saturn)

Toshinden URA (full title "Ultimate Revenge Attack) was a saturn specific sequel to Toshinden Remix. Though clearly based off Toshinden 2 for the PSX it was considerably altered with all new arenas, a new story and four new characters replacing four of Toshinden 2 PSX's new characters. The gameplay also differs quite a bit (it plays somewhat like Toshinden 1 with Toshinden 2's combo system).

[edit] Toshinden 2 PC (PC)

Toshinden 2 was also ported to the PC. It is a straight windows port with the ability to play in much higher resolutions than the PSX version (as high as your computer can go). It will also run at the speed of the computer meaning a slow down program is required to run it on new computers.
