User talk:Bassist girl

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, I saw your entry on The Philosophers. As I understand it, it is not a major band yet :) I am proposing this article for deletion, since Wikipedia only references major artists and bands at the moment. See WP:MUSIC. Sorry about that. Cordially Lucasbfr 09:13, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Onslow College

I know it sucks to get your articles deleted, but please don't add commentary about it to other articles like you did at Onslow College. It is considered vandalism. Thanks.--Isotope23 20:01, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Just a friendly note for you: Wikipedia editors work with specific guidelines when looking at the inclusion of articles for the site, that have been developed through community discussion and consensus over quite a long time. In the case of The Philosophers, those guidelines would be WP:MUSIC, which, if you take a look, requires artists to, among other things, have done a national or international tour, have two full-length albums on recognized record labels, or a number of other things that make them notable. They also must be verifiable through reliable sources. Those are the reasoning behind deletion of articles, not any kind of attack on you or the subjects of the article. If you decide to create further articles here, please take a look at those guidelines, as well as the links in the welcome message above, and keep them in mind when creating articles. Also, comments like the one you added on to the AfD page for The Philosophers are considered to be personal attacks and are frowned on. Happy editing. Tony Fox (arf!) 20:36, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

And for the reasons Tony cited above, I've removed the information about the Philosophers from the Onslow College article. This article is not the right place for this information and as Tony stated, all information in an ariticle must be be verifiable through reliable sources.--Isotope23 20:56, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Philosophers

[edit] RE:Your comments on my talk page

Generally speaking, information about a music group would go under an article about that group, not at the school they attend... unless it was a school sanctioned and funded group, like a school choir or something like that. If it is just a band made up of students, they would be listed under their own article and would need to meet WP:MUSIC. As for me verifying your information is wrong... that isn't how it works on Wikipedia. When you write an article, you have to verify that what you are saying is correct by providing sources and citations. I'm not saying what you added to the article was a lie. I'm saying it was not verified. Wikipedia is more concerned with whether or not infomation is verified, rather than if it is true. I'm sorry if this seems heavy-handed or is contributing to a negative experience here. The guidelines and policies here can seem strange when you first start editing and if you have any questions about them I can try to answer them. By the way, you are free to state your opinionon my talk page; I keep it as an open forum and don't censor anything there.--Isotope23 00:19, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
