Basrur
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Basrur is a historic port town located on the banks of the Varahi River on the Kanara Coast in Karnataka, India. For much of the sixteenth century and the first half of the seventeenth century, it was the rice port par excellence on that coast. Although the town has lost its significance as a trade centre, it continues to be a spiritual site for a number of religions.
The annual car festival is held in the month of April every year. Till late 80s this town had separate high schools for boys and girls.
