Basoda is located at 23.85° N 77.93° E^[1]. It has an average elevation of 399 metres (1309 feet).

As of 2001 India census^GRIndia, Basoda had a population of 62,358. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Basoda has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 59% of the males and 41% of females literate. 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

It is a Tehsil place of Vidisha District. As far as education is concerned,Primary School,Secondary School, Graduation & Post Gratduation level of education is available.New generation prefers IT and Engineering Education.IT study is being provided by many institutions those have affiliations with Government Bodies.

There are few good religious places here.Temples,Churches,Mosque and other sacred places. Shitla Mata temple, Baba Ramdeo temple, Noulakhi temple,Jain Mandir, Chetyalaya etc. are some often visited place here.
