Basing Street Studios
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Basing Street Recording Studios were established by Chris Blackwell the founder of Island records. They became a creative hub every bit as important as the Muscle Shoals Studios of Stax Records, or the Sea Saint Studios of Allen Toussant.
Set within an old Church that had been deconsecrated, they gave life to the new religion of popular music that was preached by the considerable array of talent, Chris Blackwell developed under his Island records banner. Bob Marley, Steve Winwood, Free, Bad Company, Robert Palmer and many many more all enjoyed the Midas touch Mr Blackwell gave their careers. And the recording sessions at Basing Street were the stuff of legends.[citation needed]
