Bashir Mann

Bashir Mann CBE (born 1925/1926) is an Asian-Scottish politician, businessman and writer.

He arrived in Glasgow from his native Pakistan in 1953 at the age of 27.

In 1970 he was the first person born in Pakistan to be elected to a public office in the United Kingdom, to serve as a Labour councillor for the Kingston ward of Glasgow Corporation. He has since resigned from the Scottish Labour Party.

He is currently Scotland's representative on the Muslim Council of Great Britain.

In 2006 he became involved in the Misbah Rana alleged abduction case.
