[edit] Current discussion

We are currently discussing whether or not the original Islamic Barnstar Award (Image 1) has won consensus, and if not, which award do you believe has won consensus? A sufficient number of people have already expressed their opinion on one award or another. The bulk of this discussion has been archived.--JuanMuslim 1m 00:48, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

The Islamic Guild would like approval of an image for their Wikiproject Award. It is current listed as a WP:PUA.

Per the standard procedure delveloped as voluntary guidelines, all the images placed on any page exept the WP:PUA page should have the consensus of the community.

Oh, not another discussion.. It was supported by most of people and it fits to the symbol of the WikiProject. I do think it deserves to be a WikiProject award. Michaelas10 (T|C) 20:30, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
No one questions the right of the group to have an award. There was never consensus on an image. --63.164.145.85 12:54, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
  • My ranking ... 18 & 10 are my top two choices. --evrik 13:44, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
  • I think ten is the best.Jacklau96 00:39, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Oppose Barnstar has been established and given out to many many editors. Anyway, as any editor who has read Islam knows, the Crescent is a symbol of the Ottoman empire, not Islam. :) Dev920 (Please vote here) 21:54, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
  • My support is on 18. Though the star-and-crescent predates Islam and originally symbolised the Ottoman empire, the Star and crescent article says that "The star and crescent historically was a symbol of the Ottoman Empire, but later became associated with Islam in general. Now its popularity among Muslims makes it comparable to the Christian cross and the Star of David." --Gray Porpoisecetaceans have large brains 04:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Comment I think the most suitable is 10, since its design relates to Islam the most. Image 18 should be removed, its design is not that good and is slightly cropped on its left side. I will try to work on a new version of 10. ANAS - Talk 14:13, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Support Modified 10 I removed image 18, it's not suitable. I just finished a modified version of image 10, it is there for everybody to view and compare, I think it's better and support it. ANAS - Talk 15:24, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

It seems to be down to three. --evrik (talk) 20:33, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

This proposal has been here for quite a long time! ANAS - Talk 15:24, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
I know it's unfair to spit in the soup, sort of, at such a late date, but I think whatever star is chosen, it should be a nice fresh green. Dysmorodrepanis 20:03, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Made one, what do you think? ANAS - Talk 22:24, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Too dark. --evrik (talk) 15:04, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Now? ANAS - Talk 16:23, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Can you lighten the text so it stand outs? --evrik (talk) 16:37, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
    • OK, now? ANAS - Talk 18:24, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Either keep the original or switch to the modified 10, but I'm more leaning to the original. Michaelas10 (Talk) 09:39, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Oppose on the grounds of barnstar being too specific. We should just have a more general "religion" award instead. If I edit articles like Adam should I be given 5 barnstars (Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Mandaean, Bahá'í)? --Cat out 08:01, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Comment Although there seems to be a Saint's star (Christian wikiproject), I agree. I think this was argued and the consensus did not oppose. I was awarded this barnstar for adding the Arabic script to articles; the barnstar was obviously not appropriate. Something has to be done, this issue has been here for months, and Juan, who came up with this idea is absent! ANAS - Talk 12:09, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
        • I've already said everything I have to say throughout the course of the discussion. The original image is the most supported version. --JuanMuslim 1m 23:44, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
      • Indeed. Wiki community should be united. A united religion award would be much much better. Saint's star and Islamic barnstar must go. :/ --Cat out 13:38, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
  • I like 18. As to the objection above that the existing award is already in use, it should only take a few minutes to track down and replace all the existing images with the new one. Herostratus 11:47, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
