[edit] Rename

Would this article be better renamed 'Black Dog', and have the Bargest as a sub-category since it's expanded so much?

if you did change the name, I would suggest "Phantom Black Dogs" with redirects from Barghest. Lisapollison 21:46, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Do not change the name; BARGHEST is the proper name of this creature. To change it would be a disservice to its legend. Unamed user 69.141.239.208 02:36, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

I think that the rename has some merit; barghest is a local name for a Britain-wide phenomenon. Only a small part of the text on the page refers to the barghest proper. I think 'Black dog (ghost)' would be a suitable page, and all of the material which does not refer to the proper, Yorkshire, barghest could be moved there. What do other users think? I see you created a separate article for this. Nicely done. It preserves this article while accomplishing a more comprehensive list. Some might want the two articles comined ut they seem fine as they are now. i merely added a link to the new on under SEE ALSO. Lisapollison 11:44, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Black Shuck

You get the same types of myths along the Essex coast, on the marshes, but its not mentioned anywhere here or on Black Shuck page. In my village it is quite a common myth and the dog is called Black Shuck or Old Shuck. Just thought I would mention it.

If you could refer us to some web pages or news stories of such citings, we'd be happy too include them. We need a source to cite. For example, if there is some famous local sighting or legend, do refer us to it.(BTW- by adding four ~'s to your post, it dates and adds your ISP for us so we know to whom we are speaking. Of course, you could register here and help us out with more such pages! That'd be lovely.Lisapollison 08:46, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Added Essex to Black Shuck's page. Mon Vier 11:40, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
