Talk:Barcoding Inc.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This company has revenues exceeding $20m, and thousands of clients nationally. The company has also won national awards, and has several thousand daily visitors to its web site. The page is informative, and is of interest to the public.
The reason this page was created is that somebody requested a listing of prominent Auto ID Data Capture companies, and this one belongs on that list. Why have a useless red link when we can have a blue one? Jehochman 17:29, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
Wikipedia is an Encyclopedia, not an index of businesses. There are lots of other websites for that. Unless the company had done something of note, it doesn't belong here. If there are smaller or less significant companies on Wikipedia, perhaps they should be deleted as well. I'm sure it's a very nice business, but unless you can come up with some significant new technology or business practice they developed, they don't belong. --Outlander 14:40, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
In the past, companies implementing AIDC technology have suffered project failure rates of 30 - 40%. Barcoding Inc. has developed a method of designing and installing systems so that the project failure rate approaches zero. By doing this, they have built a business literally from the ground up, going from zero to $20 million in revenue in six years. Along the way they have invented several new technologies, including a patent-pending system for remote battery optimization in portable devices, and a unqiue wireless intrusion detection system for enhancing wireless LAN security. For these and other accomplishment, they have received numerous awards. Jehochman 17:29, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Link Spam
This page is 100% link spam thinly disguised as some company's sob-story history. A fine job rising above tough circumstances but it's not that compelling. Lots of companies have (to quote the user Jehochman) "revenues exceeding $20m, and thousands of clients nationally" and lots have "won national awards" and tens of thousands have "several thousand daily visitors" to their web sites. It's highly unlikely this article "is of interest to the public" or anyone beyond the company's hired SEO.
That SEO would of course be none other than the user Jehochman, who earns his living at SEO. Nothing wrong with that, but Wikipedia wasn't created to help SEOs. Besides whoever "requested a listing of prominent Auto ID Data Capture companies" must have changed their mind since Barcoding Inc isn't linked on that page any longer, and when they were they were the only reseller (value-added or not) there. For this article's justification ("Why have a useless red link when we can have a blue one?") to be valid shouldn't some other resellers' sites be included, you know, to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest?
100% link spam.
[edit] The Above Rant
The above rant was written by User: Candlebaum. This is the first and only contribution, thus far, that Candlebaum has ever made to Wikipedia.
The identity of editors has no bearing whatsoever. People can look at the article as it stands and decide what to do with it. In the prior AfD vote, which was a keep, I disclosed that I used to work for the company. I now work as a independent marketing consultant. I am also a Wikipedian, editing many different articles, including search engine optimization. Jehochman (Talk/Contrib) 21:34, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
For the record, Candlebaum came back here today and posted an exact copy of his previous comments. I've deleted the duplicate remarks. One copy is enough. Jehochman (Talk/Contrib) 02:50, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Not Worthy of Deletion
Well, this isn't my first post to Wikipedia and I am quite certain that this is shameless self-promotion. Now, this company is important enough for a Wikipedia entry, just not one like this. I don't think it should be deleted, it just should be made proper. I added some tags here so that more people will give this page the attention that it needs. I don't have the time right now to turn this page into a real Wikipedia article. A_Lizard
