Barts and The London Students' Association is the students' union for those studying at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Barts and The London Students' Association incorporated into Queen Mary Students' Union in 1995 at the time when St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College and The Royal London Hospital Medical College merged with Queen Mary, University of London.
The Association was created by the merger of the students' unions of the two medical schools, namely The London Hospital Clubs' Union and the Students' Union of St Bartholomew's Medical School. The Association itself is a semi-autonomous part of Queen Mary Students' Union, mirroring the status of the combined medical school within the larger college of Queen Mary, University of London. It represents the medical, dental and occupational therapy students of Barts and The London.

[edit] Clubs' Union Building
The union building itself (known as the Clubs' Union Building or just "the Union") is located on Stepney Way in the middle of The Royal London Hospital site. Within the building are many of the services used regularly by students. These include the Griff-Inn Bar (also known as the Union Bar) and the "e.r. / The Eating Room" café. The Clubs' Resource Room provides computers, a photocopier, fax machine and so on for students and clubs and societies to use. It is also used as the primary meeting room for Association and club or society business, and is located next to the Association offices. Also in the building are the Mixed Common Room (MCR), Meeting Room and a Computer Room. The Association Bookshop stocks a large selection of medical textbooks, stationery, dissection kits and white coats, along with snacks and drinks, ice-creams, Association clothing, ties, etc.
[edit] Clubs and societies
The Association has many, very active clubs and societies ranging from the larger sports clubs down to smaller societies. Many different sports are played in addition to the common sports such as rugby and football, including various martial arts, surfing and sailing.
This year the Association beat big rivals Queen Mary, University of London in the Merger Cup, an annual competition between the two unions' teams in many different sports, with the aggregate winning union taking the cup home. The medical and dental students have won the cup more often than not since it was set up in 1995 after the medical schools merged with Queen Mary.
Barts and The London Football Club are currently UH Cup Champions (the United Hospitals Cup is a competition older than the FA Cup, and is an annual competition between the medical schools of London, of which there used to be many more than there are today); Barts and The London Rugby Club are Men's National Plate Holders. The Men's Hockey Club also reached their UH Cup final this year but lost in the final to St Georges. The Barts and the London Tennis Club Men's Team has reached the final of the UH competition in 2006. This was also achieved in 2005, where they were narrowly beaten 6,3.
