Bartlett Electric Cooperative is a non-profit rural electric utility cooperative headquartered in Bartlett, Texas.
The Cooperative was organized in 1935 as the Bartlett Community Power and Light Company. The first section of line became operative in March 1936, thus making it the United States' first electric cooperative energized under the provisions of the Rural Electrification Act.
The Cooperative serves portions of four counties in the state of Texas, in a territory generally surrounding Bartlett.
Currently (as of July 2006) the Cooperative has more than 1,900 miles of line and over 6,300 members with over 8,700 meters.
