Barry Kohn

Barry Kohn was a fringe candidate for Mayor of Winnipeg in the 1986 municipal election.
Kohn claimed he was running for office to expose his plight as the victim of a government conspiracy, and spoke against electronic surveillance in the homes of private citizens. In public debates, Kohn alleged that the government had placed radioactive materials in his home after he declared his candidacy.
Kohn received 898 votes, finishing next to last in a field of ten candidates. On the day after the election, he marched into city hall and claimed he intended to arrest incumbent mayor Bill Norrie. He alleged that voter fraud had occurred, and also suggested that Norrie was implicated in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
