Barry Glendenning
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Barry Glendenning is a London-based sports journalist from County Offaly in the Republic of Ireland. A former stand-up comedian who was beaten by Peter Kay in the 1997 Edinburgh Festival's So You Think Your Funny? competition, he currently holds the position of deputy sports editor on the Guardian Unlimited website. He is perhaps best-known for his work on Guardian Unlimited's football podcast, Football Weekly, and regularly contributes to the site's humorous and satirical daily tea-time email, The Fiver. He is also often found at the helm of the Guardian Unlimited "minute by minute reports", which feature live text coverage of Champions League games and internationals. He is regularly assigned the task of covering England internationals, for reasons which baffle many readers as it is clear from his coverage he wants England to lose.
He is currently estranged from his long-term partner, Paula Willow.
