Barry Gibb Talk Show
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Barry Gibb Talk Show is a recurring sketch on Saturday Night Live about a talk show starring Barry Gibb, lead singer for the Bee Gees, the popular band of the 1970's and his brother, Robin Gibb. It starred Jimmy Fallon as Barry Gibb and Justin Timberlake as Robin Gibb. It is characterized by Barry Gibb's staccato voice, used throughout most of the sketch and his extremely short temper to verbally berate his guests, which are usually figures in current politics. The interaction between Barry and Robin is also memorable as Robin often provides lacklustre responses to Barry's questions and provides humorous backup for their call and response falsetto singing, particularly in the opening and closing credits. Incidentally, the real Barry Gibb saw the sketch, and said that he enjoyed it, but pointed out the inaccuracies of Fallon's short-tempered portrayal of him, and Timberlake's silent portrayal of Robin.
Currently, only two episodes of The Barry Gibb Talk Show were filmed:
October 11th, 2003
Justin Timberlake hosted and performed as the musical guest. It was this episode on which The Barry Gibb Talk Show debuted. Barry's guests included Al Franken, Arianna Huffington and Cruz Bustamante, former lieutenant governor of California. At the time, both Huffington and Bustamante were running for Governor of California amidst the recall election that eventually ousted Gray Davis. A full transcript of the episode can be found here. The show is memorable for Timberlake's inability to maintain a straight face during Fallon's rantings. He can be seen occasionally lowering his head in an attempt to disguise his laughter.

In this episode, Cameron Diaz was the host but at the time, was dating Timberlake who made his second appearance as Robin on The Barry Gibb Talk Show. Fallon returned because he was about to premiere in Fever Pitch with Drew Barrymore (who also guest starred as one of the talk show's guests). This time, Barry's guests were Nancy Pelosi, Ann Coulter and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. Devoted fans will notice that Fallon's falsetto was a bit off, as he constantly reverted back to his original voice but ultimately, he draws the same reaction from Timberlake who is again forced to lower his head.
