Barrio Suecia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Barrio Suecia ("Suecia [Swedish] neighborhood";) is a section of Santiago, Chile, centered at Suecia street, in the upscale Providencia municipality, which includes many pubs, discos and restaurants. Frequently the area is simply referred to as "Calle Suecia."

A commonly used pun is formed by changing the word "Suecia" to "sucia," Spanish for "dirty," because the area is a center of drunken and debaucherous nightlife. As it would be used in a sentence by expatriates: "Let's go to Calle Sucia tonight."
