Baron Northbrook
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Baron Northbrook, of Stratton in the County of Southampton, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1866 for the Liberal politician Sir Francis Thornhill Baring, 3rd Baronet, of Larkbeer. The Baronetcy had been created in 1793 for the prominent banker and politician Francis Baring, founder of Barings Bank. The second Baron Northbrook was created Viscount Baring, of Lee in the County of Kent, and Earl of Northbrook, in the County of Southampton. However, these title became extinct on the death of the second Earl, while the Baronetcy and Barony devolved on his cousin.
