Baron Muskerry

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baron Muskerry is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1781 for Sir Robert Tilson Deane, 6th Baronet, of Muskerry. He had previously represented County Cork in the Irish House of Commons. His great-grandson, the fourth Baron, sat in the House of Lords as an Irish Representative Peer from 1892 to 1929. The Baronetcy, of Muskerry in the County of Cork, had been created in the Baronetage of Ireland in 1710 for the first Baron's great-great-grandfather Matthew Deane.

As of 30 June 2006, the present holder of the Barony has not successfully proven his succession to the Baronetcy and is therefore not on the Official Roll of the Baronetage, with the Baronetcy considered dormant. Nor is the case under review by the Registrar of the Baronetage (for more information follow this link).
