Baron Clitheroe

Baron Clitheroe, of Downham in the County of Lancaster, is a peerage title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It dates to 1955 and was created for the politician Ralph Assheton, who had previously served as Financial Secretary to the Treasury. Three months after being raised to the peerage he succeeded his father as 2nd Baronet, of Downham, Lancashire. This had been created on 4 September 1945.
