Baron Astor of Hever, of Hever Castle in the County of Kent, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1956 for the newspaper proprietor and Conservative politician John Jacob Astor. He was the fourth son of William Waldorf Astor, 1st Viscount Astor. As of 2006 the title is held by the first Baron's grandson, the third Baron, who succeeded his father in 1984. He is one of the ninety elected hereditary peers who remain in the House of Lords after the passing of the House of Lords Act of 1999, and sits on the Conservative benches. As a descendant of the first Viscount Astor, Lord Astor of Hever is also in remainder to this peerage and its subsidiary title the barony of Astor.
