Coordinates: 53.25° N 9.15° WBarna (Bearna in Irish) is a suburban village in County Galway, Ireland. Officially in the Gaeltacht, with the expansion of nearby Galway it is now mostly English-speaking. In recent years, relatively extensive development work has taken place in Barna to facilitate the increasing population of Galway.

There are numerous sporting clubs active in the Barna area. Barna GAA are one of the largest sports groups in the village, fielding gaelic football teams in men's and ladies' competitions. Other Clubs in the parish are Barna/Furbo hurling club and Barna United soccer club.

To try to control the major development which has been undertaken in recent years, a very strongly supported local action group has been set up (Pobal Bhearna).
