Barlovento (Spanish for leeward) is a municipality in the northern part of the island of La Palma, one of the Canary Islands, and a part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Barlovento is linked with a main highway encircling every part of the island and is located north of the La Palma Airport.

The population is 2,350 (ISTAC, 2004), its density is 65.66/km², some read 52.6/km² and the area is 35.79 km²/3,579 ha, some shows 44.68 km². The elevation is 325 m.

Farmlands dominate the central part as well as the coastline, forests dominate the southwestern and the mountainous parts. The majority of the population are rural and a few are urban.

Residential houses is in the mountainous area and is aligned with a main road and are surrounded with beautiful laurisilva forests along with other trees and grasslands as well. The Atlantic Ocean can be seen directly to the northeast offering small views of other islands including La Gomera.

Unlike the southern municipalities, this municipality Barlovento has saw a population trend slowly going downward.
