Barlinek

Barlinek (German: Berlinchen) is a town in Poland, in West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Myślibórz County. It has 14,224 inhabitants (2004).

The first written mention about the town is from 1278 ("Nova Berlyn"). Since the first half of the 14th century, the town was owned by the Teutonic Knights. It is the birthplace of Emanuel Lasker (1868-1941), the second World Chess Champion.
