Barefoot in the Park is a 1967 film based on the 1963 Tony-nominated comedy play by Neil Simon, about a young couple and their odd neighbors in their small apartment building in Greenwich Village, New York. It explores the troubles that newlyweds face.
The film's screenplay was also written by Simon. Robert Redford reprised his role with Jane Fonda taking the role that Elizabeth Ashley had on Broadway. Mildred Natwick reprised her role as the bride's mother, and Charles Boyer played an eccentric neighbor living upstairs.
