Barbara Peterson

Barbara Peterson won the title Miss Minnesota USA 1976 and went on to win Miss USA pageant. She competed in the 1976 Miss Universe pageant in Hong Kong where she became the first Miss USA to fail to make the semi-finals (whereas Leona Gage in 1957 qualified for the semi-finals but was eventually disqualified from the pageant). It wasn't until 1999 and 2002 and two more Miss USAs join Petersen for this "distinction".
