Barbara Anne Ferris

Barbara Anne Ferris (born July 14, 1953) is an American activist and politician.

Ferris was born in Cleveland, Ohio and now lives in Parma, Ohio. She has a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from American University. She is the founder and president of the International Women’s Democracy Center, which works to train women to participate in the political process. [1]

Ferris ran as an Independent in the 2004 election for the U.S. House seat from Ohio's 10th district. Dennis Kucinich, the Democratic incumbent, received 60% of the vote; Edward Fitzpatrick Herman, the Republican, received 34% of the vote; and Ferris received 6% of the vote.

In the 2006 election, Ferris again sought the seat, this time by running in the Democratic primary. Although she was endorsed by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, she again lost to Kucinich.
