[edit] History
Baptist Bible College has origins in a May 1950 a group of Baptist ministers assembled in the Texas Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. In the summer of 1950 land was bought at the intersection of Summit and Kearney roads in Springfield, Missouri in which this former five-acre city park turned into dormitories opended on September 5, 1950. At this time until his death in 1975 George Beauchamp Vick, pastor of the Temple Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan was the president of the college.
The vice president of the college, W. E. Dowell Sr., then became the president until fall 1985. Under Dowell enrollment peaked during his tenure.[6] Then from 1986 until 2002 Leland R Kennedy served as president who saw the college's "capital debt was eliminated."[7] In 2001 it received probationary accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.[8]Current president Mike Randall was installed as the fifth president on February 20, 2002.
