The Bank of New York Building (originally the Irving Trust Company Building and also known as One Wall Street) was completed in 1931 and opened in 1932. It is 50 stories and is 654 feet (199 m) tall. It is located in the Financial District of Manhattan and borders Wall Street, New Street, Exchange Place, and Broadway.

Construction of the building began in July 1929 and took two years to complete.

The building has had numerous problems with the limestone exterior and in 2001, the building's owners decided to bring in Hoffman Architects to conduct a survey of the exterior and provide a masterplan. The architectural group created a masterplan which will cover five years and consists of mortar repair and window replacements.

In 1965, a 36 floor addition to the site was constructed to the south of the tower to provide extra office space.
